Pleasure Point is a powerful and exciting group that plays a wide variety of styles, unique arrangements of hard-driving hard bop, infectious Afro-Cuban and salsa rhythms, Latin jazz, originals, straight-ahead swing, soulful blues and beautiful ballads. This year features international stars, from USA, The Netherlands and Brazil.
Mat Fieldes is one of the most sought-after bass players in New York. Equally comfortable playing classical music, jazz, rock, hip-hop, R&B, and on Broadway, Mr. Fieldes has collaborated with such luminaries as Joe Jackson, John Cale, Ornette Coleman, Jim Steinman, Sufjan Stevens, Steve Vai, Peter Erskine, Paquito D'Rivera, Kristjan Jarvi, Joe Williams, Arturo Sandaval, and Toni Tennille. Led by Greg Crayford, it has played at numerous national NZ festivals over the last decade as a trio, quartet and sextet.
Mike Booth has recorded and toured with Netherworld Dancing Toys, When The Cats Away, Dave Dobbyn, Howard Morrison, and performed with Dutch Jazz Orchestra, De Dijle (Dutch pop). He taught at Rotterdam and Alkmaar Conservatories and is now at the New Zealand School of Music.
Rounding out the quintet are Dixon Nacey (guitar), Blair Latham (saxophone) and Greg Crayford (drums).
