NZSM Jazz Project – Combo Competition

Hear secondary school jazz combos from around New Zealand.

The New Zealand School of Music Jazz Project invites budding young jazz players from around the country to take part in workshops, competitions and masterclasses during the Wellington Jazz Festival, all open to the public.

Guest adjudicators for the Combo Competition this year include Musical Director of one of the United States’ finest college jazz bands, Matt Harris; saxophonist and teacher Eilish Wilson, trumpeter and NZSM Artist Teacher Mike Taylor, and jazz pianist and Senior Lecturer Mark Donlon.

The competition runs throughout the day and each band has a 20-minute performance followed by a workshop led by a guest adjudicator.
