Heather Webb: Grace Under Pressure
Join Christchurch based guitarist Heather Webb and her band as they explore the music of legendary guitarist and composer, John Scofield.
Heather holds an Honours degree in Jazz Guitar Performance and has received tutoring from world renowned guitarists Dixon Nacey, Gilad Hekselman and Jesse van Ruller. Heather has extensive experience as a bandleader, sideman and recording artist. She is a foundation member of the All Girl Big Band, and leads her own groups including The Stick!, Vital Organ Trio and Blues Berries. Heather has performed around New Zealand in the International Jazz and Blues Festival, Christchurch Big Band Festival, Manawatu and Nelson Jazz Festivals, as well as a variety of session work and regular appearances at local music venues. Recently, Heather’ interests have extended to include musical theatre and pit orchestra work. Her most recent credits include Wicked, Jesus Christ Superstar and We Will Rock You. As well as performing, Heather loves composing. Her recent composition, Replay, (Sumo: Shiko, Rattle Records) was featured on RNZ in Nick Tipping’s, Best of NZ jazz 2018, and has been described as, evocatively atmospheric glides between her and the keyboards with a leisurely confidence which is both gentle but often on the precipice of unresolved tension.
